About
Brad's Produce
Brad’s
Produce is a full-time farming operation raising fresh produce,
greenhouse flowers, and grain. Brad’s Produce officially
started in 1992 when J. Brad Milton opened his first produce stand
in the Kefauver’s Hardware Store parking lot at the intersection
of Route 22 and Route 543 in Fountain Green. Over the years
a stand in Churchville, next to Kroh’s Nursery and the Big
M, was added along with a stand at the intersection of Route 136
and Route 543 in Creswell. Brad’s Produce can also
be seen at the Saturday Bel Air Farmer’s Market (April -
October) and the Twilight Farmer’s Market held at Rockfield
Manor on the last Friday of the month (May – September).
All of the fresh produce and flowers sold at the various outlets are grown on our farm at 550 Asbury
Road in Churchville. The entire farming operation consists
of over 175 acres with 80 acres being primarily devoted to raising
strawberries, asparagus, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash,
zucchini, peppers, eggplant, cantaloupes, regular watermelon, red
seedless watermelon, yellow seedless watermelon, specialty honeydews,
pumpkins, and gourds.
The remaining land is used
to grow wheat, straw, and soybeans. The spring flowers are
raised four greenhouses on the farm and there are two unheated tunnels
used for raising early tomatoes.
In May, the farm opens up to the public
for spring annuals and hanging baskets, as well as, asparagus and
U-Pick strawberries. Different varieties of flowers include
ivy geraniums, zonal geraniums, wave petunias, new guinea impatiens,
and verbena, just to name a few. Strawberries are available
until approximately June 25th. Around July 4th, the sweet
corn is ready and all of the produce stands are open as the summer
produce season begins. Starting in September and running through
the end of October, the farm will have a corn
maze adventure with a “Deep Sea Adventure” theme
open to the public 10am - 6pm daily. The corn maze will consist
of over 5,000 feet of walking paths with four different educational
stations hidden in the corn. School groups and private bookings
will be available during the week from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
In October, free hay rides to the Pumpkin Patch are available on
all weekends and for private bookings during the week. October
is the time to celebrate the fall harvest of apples, pumpkins, popcorn,
Indian corn, gourds, swan gourds, fall mums, and much, much more.
